Business Profile

My Direction I believe in intelligent and creative photography that adds value for a brand - helping it to stand out from the competition, to engage new audiences, or to force reappraisal.

My aim is to build long-term relationships with my clients based on photography that not only looks great but is effective and enduring."

About Andrew Andrew has been working in the photographic industry for over 20 years. Having started his career hanging out of helicopters while photographing supersonic aircraft for the Ministry of Defence, he now spends most of his time on solid ground - working either on location or from his studio in South Bucks.
For the last 16 years Andrew has been running his own successful business specialising in creating unique images for the science and technology industries and for advertising campaigns across a variety of markets.
Focusing on a considered balance of composition and colour, Andrew looks at each image as an opportunity for transformation - for uncovering drama that wasn't previously apparent, for bringing an inanimate object to life.
When not undertaking commissioned work, Andrew spends his time working in the studio and on location creating images for his stock library portfolio, which is marketed globally by Corbis, the Science Photo Library and Image Source.

a thing of beauty and still focus in on the essence of the science."
Fiona Auty, National Physical Laboratory

"Diamond Light Source is the UK's national synchrotron science facility.
Our communications activities rely heavily on stunning images of our iconic building, machine, experimental facilities and scientists. We have been working with Andrew Brookes since before Diamond became operational in 2007 and his imaginative photography has helped us to build a strong reputation for high quality science communication. Diamond is a working science facility so there are always constraints, access has to work around our scientists and the technical teams who operate and maintain the synchrotron machine. Andrew is always happy to work within our constraints and find solutions to problems relating to access, lighting etc. He has a wonderful talent for finding the most photogenic areas of the facility and putting together artistic shots that include real components and, at the same time, capture the essence of Diamond. Over the years, Andrew has developed an excellent working relationship with our team and our scientists and his efforts have resulted in a library of amazing images that will be used to communicate Diamond for many
years to come."
Silvana Westbury, PR Manager,
Diamond Light Source

"No matter what you give Andrew to photograph the result is a beautifully executed, creative image, effortlessly produced. He thinks visually so is never at a loss to illustrate an idea; it comes naturally to him. It does not matter whether it is a still life, a piece of heavy equipment or a busy laboratory, he always knows how to shoot it and make it look its best. He so clearly loves what he does which makes for great fun when you work with him; no fuss, no tears and consistently high quality, imaginative images."
Rose Taylor, Science Photo Library

"Andrew has worked with me as a photographer for 18 years. His flexibility, attention to detail and sense of what is appropriate to the subject have been particularly important throughout that time.
I came to rely on his skill in composing difficult shots and genius for discovering novel angles to bring laboratory scenarios to life. He has the initiative and tact to challenge our thinking constructively about what will turn out best in print or online. Passionate, untiring and a hard act to follow!"
John Francis, LGC
